As a child, I was traveling with my family when a reckless driver struck us from behind. Our car spun out of control while the other driver fled the scene without a second thought. Fortunately, our seatbelts saved us, and we walked away without serious injuries. But that moment left a lasting impression on me: the feeling of vulnerability and the injustice of a “hit and run” where there was no evidence to hold the responsible party accountable.
